Our program speaker was Professor Hamish Lutris who is an Associate Professor of History, Political Science, and Geography at Connecticut State Community College. The history of national parks around the world and the National Park Service was discussed.
From the Royal Parks of the early Middle Ages in England; to architect Frederick Law Olmsted who designed New York City’s Central Park; and to President Woodrow Wilson who establishment the National Park Service in 1916 along with stories from own time working in various national parks through the years, Professor Lutris educated and entertained the audience about the history of these wonderful places.
